The Stockholm Declaration of Chemistry for the Future. Shaping the Future of Chemistry Together
In a landmark moment for the global chemistry community, leaders and scientists from around the world gathered at the Nobel Prize Museum on May 23 to unveil the Stockholm Declaration of Chemistry for the Future. As part of the prestigious Nobel Symposium, the presentation marks a unified call to action to reimagine the role of chemistry in building a more sustainable and equitable future.
Among the distinguished speakers was Professor Javier García Martínez, who addressed the audience on the urgent need for innovation and responsibility in the chemical sciences. 'This powerful declaration is a global call to action,' he said, 'emphasising the critical role of chemistry in addressing the world's most pressing challenges.'
Professor Martínez was also one of the original signatories of the declaration, which is now being endorsed by many colleagues and institutions, signalling their commitment to advancing science in the service of people and the planet.
The Stockholm Declaration invites individuals, institutions and governments to pledge their support. Those interested can read and sign the declaration at https://www.stockholm-declaration.org/
